Prostate Cancer Awareness Event
We were delighted to welcome more than 120 patients to our Prostate Cancer Awareness Group Consultation Sessions on Saturday 29 November 2025. A fantastic turnout that highlights how strongly our patients value early action and open conversations around men’s health.
The sessions offered our patients the chance to learn more about prostate cancer risk factors, the benefits and limitations of PSA testing, and how to make informed decisions about their health. Patients were able to have a PSA blood test on the day or book a later appointment.
The sessions were led by members of the GP team, including Dr Chetty, who said: “Prostate cancer can develop without symptoms, which is why understanding your risk and being informed about testing is important. We were delighted to see so many people engaging with the discussions and feeling confident to talk openly about their prostate health.”
The event also welcomed local campaigner Dave Young, whose personal experience of prostate cancer brought a powerful and relatable message about the importance of not delaying seeking advice. His talk encouraged honest conversation and action, something attendees responded to positively.

Patient feedback has been excellent. Comments included:
- “An absolutely superbly run event. From checking in, to explanation, to blood test - all involved were superb. Swift and efficient from booking to results. Well done Dave Young and Cedar House Practice.”
- “Went to the PSA event, very helpful, very efficient, I would recommend any over 50s get this done if you are offered the opportunity.”
- “Excellent event and very efficient and quick - we men always have issues talking about health which we shouldn’t and when there are considerate professional persons on hand to help climb these barriers then we will all be in a better and more informed place – well done!! 10/10.”
The sessions were for patients who may be at increased risk, including those over 50, from a Black ethnic background, and those with a family history of prostate cancer, in line with NHS guidance.
We are delighted with the response and are now exploring further opportunities to host awareness and testing events in 2026.
