Profile of Alice Morris, our Northants Lead Nurse

Alice Morris, the Lead Nurse for Lakeside's Northamptonshire's practices, says supporting nursing colleagues with training and development is key to her role.

She works closely with Vicky Ward, Lakeside's Head of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals to lead around 45 members of our nursing teams in Kettering, Corby and Oundle.

Alice qualified in 2016 and worked in hospitals in major trauma and Accident and Emergency before moving to Primary Care and she has been at Lakeside nearly two years. She said: 'Nursing is so varied and the skills are so transferable that you can come into a different environment and make a positive impact. I really like seeing our new starters, creating a good induction for them and seeing them progress. I want to provide support and mentorship. It is also about getting feedback to see how we can make things better and boost staff morale.

'I have an open-door policy and ensure that I meet our teams including deputy lead nurses at each site regularly. Our nursing team is diverse in terms of ages, skills and backgrounds and I am very passionate about encouraging student nurses and those who are relatively new to nursing to think about a career in Primary Care. There is always progression and development available and I want our nurses to progress and reach their career goals wherever possible.'
