Mark is our Reception Team Lead
Mark Howard, our Reception Team Lead at Stamford Surgery brings a wealth of experience to the role as he formerly was a healthcare practice manager in the RAF.
Mark left the service after a military career spanning four decades and wanted to use his organisational skills in Civvy Street. The role at Stamford was a perfect fit for his skillset and he leads a team of 14 patient facing staff who are all committed to providing the best service they can.

Mark said: ‘I know I wanted to stay in the medical sphere however going for an interview was a real shock because I hadn’t done them before! This role was ideal. I certainly did underestimate what I was coming in to, and it was quite a culture shock. Working in the military the age range is quite restrictive and the fitness of people is generally good. Now we are dealing with generally and older and more complex demographic. Nevertheless, I have the relevant skills and it was definitely the right move. Although I have been here for over a year now, you never stop learning, about the changing workload, the processes or getting to know the staff and patients and being here to support them. I have always had the philosophy if the team aren’t happy then I’m not happy, and the same goes for our patients.'
