Two new GP Partners join Headlands Surgery
The team of GP Partners at Headlands Surgery in Kettering has been boosted by the arrival of Dr Patience Kuwornoo and Dr Rohit Singh.
Both are experienced doctors, with Dr Singh being committed to GP training and musculoskeletal medicine while Dr Kuwornoo has a background in paediatrics and an interest in sexual health.
They have joined a relatively new team of GP Partners as four of the five GPs there have joined in the last two years. All are enthusiastic about providing high quality patient care and making improvements where possible. Dr Patience joined the practice in June, while Dr Singh started in September. Both are enjoying getting to know their patients and colleagues and say they have been made very welcome.
Dr Patience, who works four days a week, came from a small village practice near Northampton, so is used to dealing with the needs of the elderly. Now, being centrally located in a large town, means she also deals with a younger demographic as well.
She originally trained as a doctor, with an interest in paediatrics, in Ghana. She qualified as a GP in the UK in 2022, as she wanted to balance her career with the needs of her young family: ‘I thought being a GP would be a good choice but didn’t realise I would like it this much. I am more engaged with patients than I ever was in the hospital and I really like the mix of patients that we have. Joining Headlands felt right and I had also spoken to one of the doctors here who is an old friend and he had good things to say about working here.’

‘We are a fairly new team of doctors and have a new Advanced Nurse Practitioner so it is nice being part of a developing team. Alice, the practice manager, is experienced and unimaginably supportive. Most of the non-clinical staff have been here for a long time and they have been really kind in helping me adjust.’
‘I met the other Partners at our recently so it made me understand more about the commitment that it entails, not only to make sure that we are meeting the needs of our own patients but also looking at working practices and strategies that could benefit patients and colleagues across Lakeside as a whole. It is an exciting prospect and I am really pleased to be a part of a small practice within a much larger organisation.’
Dr Rohit Singh also wants to be part of the continuing development of the practice and help to train GPs. He started his career in hospital emergency departments before training as a GP ten years ago. He says he joined as he already knew some GPs who were Lakeside Partners and the team at Headlands is very friendly.
Dr Singh said: ‘Headlands is a training practice, which is something I am very interested in supporting having developed a teaching and training programme in my previous role. After being a GP, a locum, a Partner, and Clinical Lead in my career I do have some suggestions for what changes can be made at Headlands, but I want to implement ideas in consultation with the team and colleagues.
‘People have been very welcoming and, although there are new systems and clinical pathways to learn I am definitely enjoying it here and knowing some of the GPs has definitely been an advantage in making the decision to join.’
