Recruitment accolade for Lakeside Healthcare Research

The East Midlands RRDN (Regional Research Delivery Network) Research Support for Wider Care Settings, supports GP and dental practices with the delivery of clinical research.
Lakeside was second in the list of top performing sites for research recruitment in the East Midlands, with a total of 526 participants being signed up from our practices in Corby, Stamford, Bourne, Oundle and Kettering.
The accolade comes at an exciting time for the central Research Department, based at Cottingham Road Corby. It has appointed new Research Partners and has ambitious plans to develop the scope and reach of its clinical studies. It is currently recruiting for studies in Covid, COPD, asthma, cardiovascular events, unexplained cough and C-diff.
The Research Site Initiative (RSI) Scheme Recognition Awards said: ‘Being a research active Practice for patients for patients and staff also means:
- Gaining access to new treatments/ technologies
- Being empowered to take a more active role in their own care
- Increasing knowledge in health conditions
- Gaining a sense of accomplishment and achievement in supporting medical research for a condition they care about.
- Opportunities to widen knowledge and skill set, supporting continuous professional development and adding interesting elements to roles
They continued: ‘Whilst recruitment from GP Practices in the East Midlands has decreased this year compared to last year, we are still the third highest recruiting RRDN in the country. This is a great achievement and shows the outstanding work and dedication of our GP practices here in the East Midlands, who are committed to providing these valuable opportunities to their patients and staff. A huge well done and congratulations to everyone who has supported in contributing to this achievement.’
Dr Funto Ogundapo, GP Partner at Oundle Medical Practice and GP Research Champion Northamptonshire ICB said: ‘This is great news and a collaborative effort from all our GP practices and Research Hub to get the word out to patients on the Commercial and NIHR Clinical research (academic and commercial research) that is available for them to participate in! Lakeside Healthcare stands for excellence in clinical research and is supportive of our patients getting the best care under the NHS.’
