Emily gains her prescribing qualification

Congratulations to nurse Emily Farrar from New Queen Street and Stanground Surgeries, on gaining her prescribing qualification.

Emily has been at the surgery since 2010. She has already completed a lot of training and development and saw her latest qualification as 'a natural career progression.'

She said: 'I had been thinking about doing the course for some time. My colleagues, Ann and Sue had already started and told me how much work it was. Like them I had to juggle studying with work and family commitments and now I am qualified I will be able to prescribe within a range of medicines, concentrating on minor illness and respiratory, such as inhalers which should take some of the workload off GPs for routine issues.'

'The GPs here have been supportive, especially Drs Rebecca Garrett, Paula Speller and Deepali Prakash who acted as mentors to me, Sue and Ann. All the other Partners were great as well, acting as supervisors and giving feedback and advice. The course can be challenging at times but you get a real sense of achievement when you get it.'
